There are a few roster issues I've noticed that many people aren't quite aware of on the site of late so today we're going to clear that up. I'm also going to archive you back to any of the stories that Conrad or I wrote about this stuff so you can read about it in more detail if you want.
Manny Harris has no ties at all to the Cavaliers anymore. He was cut on December 22nd and cannot simply be "called up" at any time. To rejoin the team somebody would have to be waived. Check out Conrad's post on the day Manny got the ax.
That issue is related to the next thing we need to clear up. Anthony Parker and Luke Harangody are not going to get cut. All contracts that were non-guaranteed like Harangody's are now fully guaranteed for the season as I wrote very recently. Alonzo Gee is also here to stay but I didn't mention him because it's obvious he's not getting waived. That deadline was important. You'll notice how Mychel Thompson got cut right before it. Since all those wing players aren't going anywhere it is tougher for Harris to get a shot back in Cleveland.
The Cavaliers aren't simply going to get rid of Parker or Harangody since they are guaranteed money. Here's what I wrote when Parker signed.
Also, Anderson Varejao is not getting traded.

John, thank you for the article, seeing that you have information such as how much and how long these players are a member of the Cavaliers, could you post how much, and for how long Parker and Harangody’s contracts are for? I know Parker signed a one year before the year but not sure how much. I find it unlikely that they will resign Harangody, or if any other team would sign him for that matter. But I do see your point regarding the guaranteed contracts.

Im a little confused actually. Is our roster full now? Or do we still have an extra spot after waiving thompson (i forgot if we got eyenga back beforr waiving him). I still dont get why we wouldnt offer manny a deal (providing we have the space). i think its time to let AP have a seat and at least give manny a shot

I’d argue that there is a SLIM chance Harangody gets cut if we needed room for a trade or something.

Yeah I don’t think they’ll let the sunk cost of Harangody’s contract get in the way of a trade, or to be honest, if they felt Manny Harris was a better fit on the roster now or going forward, than they again wouldn’t let the guaranteed contract of Harangody’s get in the way. This probably speaks more to what they think of Manny Harris. I’m assuming Harris is basically a “free agent” that could be signed by any team in the league, correct?

Correct. That’s basically what worries me…I assume that he’d prefer to stay in Cleveland, but he has the chance to sign with whoever he wants. Another team could sign him tomorrow.

Yeah, but another team could have signed him yesterday, or the day before that, and they didn’t. My point being, is I don’t think Manny Harris and his D-League scoring abilities should be all that concerning if he signed somewhere else because the Cavs didn’t make roster moves to pick him up soon enough.

No. Almost nobody in the D-Leauge is actually affiliated with an NBA team so that wouldn’t really be possible.
