The Cleveland Cavaliers will be without a viable shooting guard on Tuesday against the Boston Celtics.
Anthony Parker was injured during the 2nd quarter of Sunday's 88-87 win in Boston and was unable to return with back spasms. Daniel Gibson sat out Sunday's game with a stiff neck and stayed over night in Boston to have additional tests on his neck. Neither guard will be able to play in Tuesday's game which means that you (yes, you) may have a chance to be the starting shooting guard for the Cavaliers!
Seriously though, if I had to guess, I'd say that Mychel Thompson will be the starter. If not Thompson, it will be Alonzo Gee. Or Byron Scott could use my idea and just pick a random fan from the crowd.
Here's your daily reminder that Kyrie Irving is a total boss.
@PDCavsInsider:
Irving over his game-winner for Cavs vs. Celtics on Sunday. "It's time to move on.''
Yeah, spinning through the lane for the lefty layup game winner in Boston -- no big deal. Nothing to see here, carry on.

Um, who?

this is not different from any other night. it’s just a general statement, unrelated to the injuries

Wish we could put Anthony Parker on Injured Reserve LOL
Its a shame we will be without Daniel Gibson, cause he is our best offensive and defensive option at shooting guard on this team.. and I think Gee is very valuable off the bench as our defensive specialist and spectacular dunking… so I think honestly we should start him at shooting guard for tomorrows game and have M. Thompson come off the bench… and be our sharp shooter, until Gibson comes back.

Parker injured reserve
Yep, i second that motion ! He is not much of a shooter anymore & really sucks on Defense, unless chasing his man 2 steps behind counts as defense ! M. Thompson looks better. At least he shows it. Lets see him more and find out. And why bring Eyenga up if not going to test him out.

It probably wouldn’t be too hard to find a fan in the stands who is roughly 6’2" and shoots 30% from the 3-point line to take the place of Boobie.

Would you rather see Thompson or Gee at SG?
Conrad Kaczmarek - January 30, 2012
Thompson for the sake of evaluation. Gee’s going to be here for awhile. I want to see what Thompson can give us any chance we get.

How could you play a power forward at shooting guard?
He cant shoot from the outside nor drive in and create his own shot like Gee does… he needs to be under the basket blocking shots and rebounding with his long arms and endless energy.. How could he play shooting guard? Gee can play all three positions i think (sg/sf/pf) but I dont see Thompson playing guard at all… Maybe (sf/pf and occasionally center against smaller big men)

Haha, Mychel Thompson. Not Tristan Thompson.
Conrad Kaczmarek - January 30, 2012
Sorry Conrad...
my bad… either Gee or Thompson would be fine with me as long as NEITHER are Parker… ill be pumping my fists in the air in glorious intrigue! I am NOT at all a supporter of Parker being anything more than a reserve player.. not a starter. If he played defense like Gee I wouldnt complain at all about his non scoring, but he does nothing well… he cant penitrate, he makes errant passes, and watching people fly by you toward the basket is Jamison-esq defense at best.
If hes around to mentor the young bucks, let him play on the second team with those players and give Gibson, M. Thompson, and Boobie the chance with the first team. Irving needs help around the perimeter, and Parker cause NO FEAR, in fact hes quite the opposite, a waste of space. No need to even guard him… just double team Irving. Mykel Thompson is a good shooter like his brother with GS, and Gee creates his own shots and marvelous Dunks and plays smothering defense… Either one would be an upgrade, on a worthless Parker… Just give the guy a crutch and a clipboard and let him coach.

From the limited playtime Mychel Thompson had last game, dare I say he looked decent?
Heavysoviet - January 30, 2012
You dare. He looked decent, I’m just not buying it.
