Mike Brown rumor "100% False"

So says Brian Windhorst, Cavs beat writer over at the Plain Dealer.  Per a Tweet from Windhorst,

"Take it from me, any story you see or hear about Mike Brown's job being in jeopardy is 100% false. Very poor  Cavs "journalism" this week."

Windhorst was more adament in his column this morning on Cleveland.com --

It flies in the face of common sense that removing the most successful coach in team history - whom James has credited with improving his defense and helping him mature into a leader - and tossing a stable team into chaos would help James' re-sign with the Cavs. James has supported Brown firmly, especially over the last two seasons.

Second, Riley has said he's retired from coaching and he's the president, top basketball decision maker and part owner of the Miami Heat. Later this summer, he's going to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the Heat. Riley is going nowhere.

Neither is Brown.

I think that says it all, don't ya think??

I should have saved my last comment for this post.

Honestly, where the hell do these websites / periodicals get their “sources,” seriously?
And what the hell do these so called “sources” gain from spreading lies?

I don't doubt that the Cavs braintrust is evaluating Mike Brown's coaching performance.

I also don’t doubt that there might have been some pointed criticisim of him, either. But, I can hardly believe Gilbert is at the point where he wants to bring in a “big name coach” and that Pat Riley is his guy! Really?

This report and reporter has zero credibility unless Brown is given his walking papers. I wonder if he understands that?

To be honest, all Windhorst did there was editorialize

Yes, he could have been told Brown is ‘100% safe’ but that doesn’t mean he is. All it means is that the team is putting out the message now that they aren’t changing coaches.

this is a very fair point. but, by the same token, the author (a website i’d not ever heard of until today, quite frankly) could have taken similar liberties with his “source”. unfortunately, all it takes is one “source” to drop something like this, and then the team is put in the position of putting out a message that may never have been in question.

i guess what i’m saying is, there’s no more compelling reason to believe this “source” than there is to believe windhorst.

I think that says it all, don’t ya think??

Nah, Brian Windhorst doesn’t know what he’s talking about very often.

…says the guy who doesn’t know what he’s talking about very often…

Yep, that's me.

I never know what I’m talking about at any time for any reason.

They’re not going to can him. How could you justify it. What it feels like to me is a fire being lit under the tushies of Mike Brown but more importantly Danny Ferry. I’ll be you $1 the “source” was (insert sarcasm) Lebron!

Two Kinds Of Sports Pain

The only way that it could make any possible sense is when you put it into the context of the two greatest types of sports pain and disappointment:

1) Being so far out of it that a team is never even close to being a contender

2) Coming so close with a great team, but not achieving a championship

The second situation is extremely disappointing, and often harder to accept than the first. It was in this situation that the San Diego Chargers denied the rumors that Marty Schottenheimer was going to lose his job, and then several weeks later they let him go.

I hope for Mike Brown’s sake that the Cavaliers don’t make the same mistake that the Chargers did.

It makes me sad that when I read that, I thought:

1) Browns

2) Cavaliers

:(

I Think
Browns (Drive, Fumble,etc)
Indians (95 Braves, Jose Mesa)

Cleveland sports sucks

Awww, why’d you have to go and remind me, I tried to repress those baseball memories.

Cleveland sports don’t suck. it’s a gift being a Cleveland fan, man…just think how sweet that next championship is going to be!!! they’ll have to redefine the meaning of the word “sweet”

Gosh

I am seriously going to die if that ever happens. I mean Boston fans could have complained about the Red Sox but at least the Celtics, Bruins and Patriot were good and won championships. No fans have suffered like Cleveland fans.

Mike Brown clearly is not very deserving of COY award.
Uh, yeah because he totally didn't have the best regular season record in the NBA

Oh wait….
