The NBA will announce later today that LeBron James will be named League MVP for the 2008-09 season.
In a fitting tribute to both James and the City of Akron, the annoucement will take place at James' alma-mater, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and will include all of James' Cavaliers' teammates.
The Cavaliers have called a 4:00PM news conference for this afternoon as well.
LeBron and company will begin the 2nd Round of the Playoffs tomorrow night against the Atlanta Hawks at The Q.

Also, the thought of a full NBA team squeezed in a high school gym is funny.

LeBron got the award he deserved. I’m happy for him and the Cavs. I think it’s cool that he wanted to have the announcement in Akron at SVSM.
Hopefully this will the first of many MVPs for him.

Great! If he didn’t get it, that would be a scandal. He deserves it hands down. Go Cavs! I was watching some old clips of Jordan and it was interesting to see how he didn’t win championships until he got the other teammates involved and contributing. LeBron has been doing this from day one. He’s on his way!

Jordan became more succesful when he became
an off-the ball scorer. Before the triangle, Doug Collins = Mike Brown. Stand around and watch MJ shoot. Phil brought the Triangle offense in and it allowed Micheal to get shots in better places while encouraging ball movement.
It also helped that Scottie Pippen became a starter in 1989.

Yep
I thought long and hard about it and I would give LeBron the edge over Brown. Jim Brown was great and made the Browns go but, at times (but not often) he could be contained. LeBron really can’t be contained very well no matter what teams do to game plan for him. LeBron does it at both ends of the floor on offense and now, especially his great D. Jim Brown didn’t play D of course but he didn’t block well so, he could have been better . So, IMO, Jim Brown, although an awesome talent, wasn’t as great as he could have been. LeBron is all that and a bag of chips! Incredibily, he is still getting better!
