Fear The Links - Friday 5/29

Fear The Links brings you the best Cavs news every day.  If you find any good Cavs stories online send them to me at buckeyebrad79@yahoo.com and I'll add them to the links.  Hope you enjoy!

Cleveland Plain Dealer

  • Brian Windhorst gives his recap of Game 5 and in his blog discusses what the Cavs did differently last night and how that might affect the rest of the series.  He also writes that LeBron said he felt more pressure playing in the Olympics than in the playoffs, and he said that before Game 5 when the Cavs were down 3-1.  Either he just doesn't want to admit the kind of pressure the Cavs are under now or he really doesn't feel it.
  • Terry Pluto gives his postgame scribbles.
  • Jodie Valade writes about the difference that Mo Williams made in Game 5.
  • Finally, they have a link to the"Hastily Made TNT Video" made by
Cleveland comedian Mike Polk, the guy who did the "Hastily Made Cleveland Tourism Video" that has become popular on YouTube.  It's pretty funny.

Akron Beacon-Journal

Columbus Dispatch

  • Rob Oller says that LeBron makes up for the matchup problems that the Cavs have with the Magic.

Mike Polk is great. He seems clever enough to let this gravy train ride for as long as possible.

As always, a great roundup Brad.

I actually flew in from DC to Cleveland yesterday to see Game 5 in the arena. I’ve missed going to Cavs games, outside of when they play in Washington, for three years now and I thought this might be my last reasonable chance (Game 7 / Finals tickets will be insanely expensive) to do so.

Some quick thoughts I had from the Q/Gund last night:
 - Great fan energy all night, I thought, except for the obvious period in the 2nd quarter when I guarantee you every fan had the same exact “not this shit again” feeling.
 - I am convinced that if Dwight Howard was not playing against us, I would like him a great deal. He spent a lot of time shooting FTs with Ewing before the game, working on various things, always with that huge smile on his face. He seems to enjoy the game, which I respect. I do not respect his nearly constant bickering about the foul calls.
 - As much as I generally do not buy into the “LeBron just wouldn’t allow the team to lose in the Fourth,” it’s very true. Getting the ball posted-up at the top of the key/at the line was incredible.
 - The whole night, I wanted Mo to get more touches. There were long stretches where he just didn’t attempt a shot. He certainly had a hot hand last night, and wanted to see him stroke a few more to build even more confidence.
 - Boobie.
 - I was concerned there was something wrong with DWest when he didn’t come back in during the Fourth. I know he’s had previous similar issues, hope it doesn’t keep him sidelined in game 6. I can’t imagine he sits if he can even walk.
 - I feel much more optimistic than I thought I would. I think Kenny Smith said it correctly after Game 4 — there is a little bit of self-delusion that has to happen to come back from a 3-1 hole. You take each game by itself, individually…but to an extreme. There was no way we were letting them close out on our court. That’s done. Now it’s all about winning one down in Orlando. We can do it.

As always, cheers.

Thanks, I’m glad you appreciate it. These do take longer than I thought they would when I started, but it’s a good way for me to find good articles about the games and learn more about basketball.

Isn’t the analysis easy from last night’s game? Mo Williams made his shots. That’s pretty much it.

Where is the Mo-Flo?

Has anyone noticed that Mo hasn’t used it at all this series? Is he afraid Howard is going to block it?

That’s a good question. I’m pretty sure Dwight would just get it on the way down — he seems to have no concept of what goaltending is.
