Being the insanely superstitious fan that I am, I've been keeping the same strict uniform code throughout the ECF: navy alternate LeBron jersey, 2007 ECF Champs t-shirt underneath, and the same grungy cargo shorts. It was working, I figured, since even though we lost Game 1, it was darn close. And of course "LeShot" happened in Game 2, so I figured I was good to go. But then game 3 happened, and something didn't feel right. I realized it wasn't me -- the Cavs themselves need to be rockin' the navy blue.
If you look back to the 2007 ECF, you'll see that we wore navy in every road game (Game 1, Game 2, Game 5). I mean, sure, you could argue they're bad luck because we lost both Games 1 and 2, but can anyone really argue with the good karma power those navy unis accumulated in Game 5
Forget Mo Williams' shooting and Z's inability to guard Howard in the post. This is the answer. Navy unis = guaranteed series win. Book it.
These are the things I lay awake at night thinking about.
But can we switch in the middle of a series? Can we get a petition going or something?
P.S. -- Just ignore the fact that we also wore navy in the Finals that year. Doesn't count.

The Navy Unis are the way to go
Mo will shoot better because for some bizarre reason the striping pattern around the collar and sleeves on his is actually different than everyone else on the team.
For a team (the Cavs) that was superstitious about unis during the regular season, it’s time to bust out the navy uni and get this much needed road win.
Hardcore Legend - May 26, 2009
The side panels help align his shot and make it right and true. Blue is the way to go.
Turkmenbashi - May 26, 2009
Navy?
The only Navy thing we need is a FTC ( fire-control-technician) to get the perfect arch on Mo’s and Delonte’s shots into the damn hoop!
Juannieboy - May 26, 2009
Along with the CAVS needing to wear their blue uni’s.. There is the problem of what I need to wear for the game. I wore my wine jersey for game 1, witness shirt for game 2, and white jersey for game 3. So if i go with the trend, everyone would think that witness shirt = win. But it is dirty do I wear it dirty or clean it and risk losing the good luck?
Soko - May 26, 2009
I'm busting out my Orange CAVS
80’s shirt with JAMES 23 on the back for this game. The Orange WITNESS shirt killed us in Game 3.
I’m saving my black WITNESS shirt for ‘In Case of Emergency’ which might be Game 5 if they don’t get this thing fixed.
Hardcore Legend - May 26, 2009
Wear it dirty dude, come on!
Turkmenbashi - May 26, 2009
Also!
I’m trying to put together a playlist to get me pumped up for the game tonight. Any suggestions?

Things I hope Happen tonight
1. Cavs win
2. Cavs shoot like they did all season
3. Turkey-glue gets called for atleast 4 of the illegal stiff arms he throws.
4. Dwight Howard remembers he sucks at anything that doesn’t involve dunking/blocking
5. Wally World knocks down 3 triples.
Hardcore Legend - May 26, 2009
count me in, man.
DontCallMeJoey - May 26, 2009
Can somebody tell me why Wally hasn't played??
….didn’t he light up the Magic for 14 points or something in 18 minutes in the first game in Orlando?? Then Brown sat him in the second half inexplicably…
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
we’re talking the reg season w/ that wally line? i don’t really remember, to be honest, but sounds like the type of cooking wally can do from time to time.
i think his lack of PT boils strictly down to defense. wally’s out there w/ cement shoes…can’t stay in front of turk or lewis, who, as perimeter players, he would need to stay in front of.
DontCallMeJoey - May 26, 2009
I remember the game...i was there...Wally was on freakin fire...
…i mean i know he’s not the best defensively…but shit…that guy hit like 5 shots in a row till M. Brown took him out…which i couldn’t understand…but was very grateful for..!!
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
Wally's father was in attendance
he lit the Magic up right before the half and then Brown benched him.
Hardcore Legend - May 26, 2009
Turk..i'm right there with you in the superstion department....
…i changed sports bars 5 times in the Celtics series before i settled on one when the Magic took Games 6 and 7. Stayed at the same place through the first 3 games of this one…that place would be 5-0 now if it wasn’t for LeShot..lol!!
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
Respect the Magic
It doesn’t matter what color uniforms you wear! You have NO answer for Dwight Howard. You have NO support for LeBron. And you know, except for a freak shot, this would be the close out game…instead we’ll go back to your crib to win it .
LeBron is an incredible player, but no man is an island. Although he may be playing on an island, called Manhattan, if you guys don’t get him a better supporting cast.
The Magic haven’t gotten any respect all year long, so why should the playoffs be any different. Maybe being the giant killers will finally get some attention.
By the way, does anybody, other than Kobe, get more calls than LeBron? How ‘bout that last block by Dwight that was all ball, but they still called him for a foul and sent him to the bench? You’ll need those refs to beat the Magic. Magic is more powerful than the sword.
Respect the Magic - May 26, 2009
MagikFanatic, can you please slap this guy?
DontCallMeJoey - May 26, 2009
I would Joey...but you and i can't ever agree on anything remember..lol...???
…so i’ll just silently abstain thanks..:)
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
Nobody’s disrespecting the Magic. In fact, I can’ think of anything more disrespectful than coming into a clearly light-hearted thread and posting inflammatory, cliched nonsense.
Furthermore, your “arguments” are proof that you haven’t even really been paying attention to the series. If you had been, you’d realize that:
- Dwight Howard is far from the Cavs’ biggest problem at this point and
- Fouls have been kind of ludicrous on both sides, and you’d be hard pressed to find a weaker, sillier argument than the “pro-LeBron” conspiracy theory
If you have something to contribute to the discussion other than worthless anti-Cavs/Cleveland rhetoric, then welcome. If not, we’ll have no problem showing you the door.
Turkmenbashi - May 26, 2009
I actually prefer we get no respect....till it matters...
….i mean really….why change what has been working for us so far this year in the playoffs?? They don’t give out rings for respect my man..:)
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
With all due respect, MF, the “no respect” thing is really getting played out. I think it’s clear that most people here respect the Magic, and I’m positive the Cavs do too. Just because Mo made a stupid comment after being baited by a media hungry for false controversy doesn’t mean we don’t respect you.
And I hope the feeling is mutual… I actually found myself remarking the other night that, despite how tough these losses have been, I have a hard time hating anyone on your team. And it’s usually very easy for me to vilify opposing team members. I guess Hedo would be my "most hated: if I had to pick, but i really don’t have any rational reason for that other than that he seems to own us.
Turkmenbashi - May 26, 2009
Oh i wasn't talking about here.....sorry i didn't clarify that Turk.....i thought that was understood..
…i was talking about in general..in the Media…all these Lebron/Kobe commercials and all that…it’s just motivation for the Magic to prove the experts wrong…you know like the 5 out of 7 ESPN writers that picked the Cavs to win
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
Come on, the Magic don’t need any more “motivation” to beat the Cavs — this is the friggin’ playoffs!! They’re playing for a championship! What other motivation do they need?
Really, this whole “no respect” card gets really, really old. And it’s not just from the Magic, you hear it every year in every sport. Why should the Magic players care who the ESPN writers picked? And of course they’re going to pick the Cavs, they were the best team in the regular season. That’s not disprecting the Magic just because they think the Cavs were going to win the series because the Cavs are a great team, and there’s no shame in losing to a great team. So cut the no respect crap.
If the Magic players need extra motivation from the media, or from Mo Williams, or anybody else then something is wrong with them. Quit making up things that aren’t true and just play basketball.
Buckeye Brad - May 26, 2009
Well, I think it’s understandable why the players would feel that way. that’s just part of how athletes cope with stress and pressure. I have no problem with that. I just think that, as fans, we should be able to separate.
Turkmenbashi - May 26, 2009
But the players shouldn’t need extra motivation from that. Isn’t playing for a championship motivation enough? I can understand how they’re tired of hearing so much about LeBron and Kobe. Most fans are.
The fans, though, need to quite whining about not getting respect and just enjoy their team’s good play. If the Magic beat the Cavs they’ll get plenty of respect, and even if they lose in a tough, 7-game series they’ll get respect around the league.
Buckeye Brad - May 26, 2009
I agree that the fans should stop whining, but if the players want to use that as “bulletin board material,” then so be it. I’m gonna use the tried and true Chuck argument here — neither you or I are pro athletes, so we shouldn’t deign to know what’s going on in their heads. Chances are, attitudes like that are part of what make these guys pro athletes.
Turkmenbashi - May 26, 2009
Yeah, but I get tired of constantly hearing the “no respect” card from athletes. It’s gotten to the point that everyone says that, even players and teams that get constant admiration. The worst case I remember is two years ago, when the Patriots were going undefeated, I heard players saying they weren’t getting enough respect! And that team was talked about every day on ESPN!! So it gets old after a while, when every team feels the need to say they’re not getting enough respect.
Now, I’ll grant you, the Magic weren’t getting much respect coming in to this series, and I would say they didn’t really deserve it considering the way they played against Philly and Boston. I would think even Orlando fans would agree with me there. They should have been underdogs to the Cavs, and they were, so if they want to claim they weren’t getting respect then so be it. But they’re getting plenty of respect now.
Buckeye Brad - May 26, 2009
Oh....and Hedo is the most "hated" by Magic fans too...lol...
…so that would make sense.!! The guy could drive any fan batty with his inconsistency!!
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
Although I have to say, I dig his nickname.
Turkmenbashi - May 26, 2009
I was going to say....if you weren't a Cavs fan...he might be you're favorite....
…..tough win tonight…Magic can’t let up in Cleveland…especially with all the T’s on Dwight…i’d hate to play the Cavs without him!!
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
Hey, he’s definitely my favorite Magic player
Turkmenbashi - May 27, 2009
Thought you statistic analysts over here would find this interesting...
…something they post on TQC from Hardwood Paroxysm http://www.hardwoodparoxysm.com/2009/05/26/examining-the-magics-overall-effort-versus-clevelands-one-man-show/
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
Very interesting read, thanks for the link. I still think that, unlike the 2007 team, we’re actually capable of playing great, team offense. We just haven’t done it yet in this series.
Turkmenbashi - May 26, 2009
I wonder if they have one of those charts for defense???
…as a Magic fan…i’d be interested to see my teams chart on that for sure.
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
Yea..it was something i could even understand..lol...
Magic role players have stepped up so far..Cavs role players haven’t as of yet…..long way to go though…game 4 is huge!!
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
Well, and as much as I appreciated those charts, the first thing that popped into my head was… DUR! Anyone can see LBJ has been straining and needs someone else to step up. Let’s hope for our sake that Mo puts his money where his mouth is tonight.
Turkmenbashi - May 26, 2009
Yea...i thought that was either a huge ass mistake or him seriously putting the full load on his shoulders...
…kind of like Dwight did after Game 5 with the Celtics!! We’ll see if Mo can put his SHOT where is mouth is…:)
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
Thinking about this more seriously, does anyone know if there’s some actual protocol for what jerseys have to be worn? Like, since we wore wine for the first road game, do we have to wear wine on the road all series?
Turkmenbashi - May 26, 2009
All i know is i think the home team gets to choose...
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
I don't think so because the Lakers wore white
for their Sunday playoff game at home last week.
Hardcore Legend - May 26, 2009
I'm sorry... but whatever those color those yellowish Cavs jerseys are...
…they’re just horrendous…lol
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
Dude, take a look at those ’90’s Penny Hardaway era Magic digs. You can’t talk buddy, haha.
Turkmenbashi - May 26, 2009
I was just thinking how bad those pinstripes were...but hey...that was the 90's man....lol
…at least we stopped wearing them Turk!!:)
MagikFanatic - May 26, 2009
Yep. pretty much everything from the ’90’s was awful.
Turkmenbashi - May 27, 2009
I don’t think that matters.
Buckeye Brad - May 26, 2009
I’m so glad that I’m not the only psycho superstitious Cavs fan.
Simmsinns - May 26, 2009
What’s your superstition?
Turkmenbashi - May 26, 2009
In game, I will change seats until we start doing well…
Simmsinns - May 26, 2009
