We finally know when the Cavaliers will get back on the floor in games that matter, well, almost.
The Cavs have been resting, waiting, and getting alot of practice in since last Sunday when they finished off a 4-game sweep of the Detroit Pistons. Their opponent in Round 2 will be the winner of the Hawks/Heat series, currently headed to Game 6 tonight with the Hawks leading 3-2.
When the Cavaliers host Game 1 is yet to be determined. Should the Hawks finish off the Heat tonight in Miami, the Cavaliers and Hawks would play Game 1 this Sunday at The Q. Game 2 would be played Tuesday night, also at The Q.
If the Heat extend the series to a 7th Game, the eventual winner of the series would head to Cleveland for Game 1 on Tuesday Night, with Game 4 on Thursday Night.
What we do know for sure is when Games 3 and 4 are to be played. No matter when the series starts, Game 3 will be played on Saturday and Game 4 on Monday. Given a Tuesday start, that wouldn't actually be too bad, with the first four games coming every other day. Should the Cavs play Sunday/Tuesday, there would be a 3-day layoff between games 2 and 3. Not much fun there at all.
No matter who it is, or when it is played, it is time to start getting amped up for Round 2.
GO CAVS!

This has been a long layoff.
I am suffering from CWS (Cavs Withdrawl Syndrome). Thank God the Bulls/Celtics series has been compelling!

I actually can't wait for the Bulls/Celtics series to end.
Sure, it’s been a nerve-wrecking, hard-fought odyssey of a series, but do you see a bright postseason for either team? Do you really think whoever emerges from this slugfest will have anything left to beat Orlando, let alone Cleveland? Sure, it’s been fun to watch, but the effort in every game seems so fruitless when you realize neither of these teams have any chance of making it to the NBA finals.

I am actually hoping the Miami/Atlanta series goes the full 7 then. I’d much rather not give the opponent 3 days to prep before their first home game.
talonk - May 1, 2009
I’d rather see Miami just because I want to see Wade on the court when I go to game E, but a small part of me wants Atlanta just to knock ’em off already, so I can watch some Cavs basketball. It seems like it has been forever…
Simmsinns - May 1, 2009
Who wants to face Atlanta in the second round?
They’re a much better defensive team than Miami, and they have more playmakers than Miami. The supporting cast around LeBron is much better than the cast around Dwayne.
WaveOcean - May 1, 2009
Wow, what a close vote — my vote (for Miami) made it 230-230. I’m more scared of Atlanta because they play better defense and are a more complete team (as WO said above). Miami is like the Cavs with LeBron a few years ago — not many playmakers around him (although I do like Mario Chalmers and really wished we drafted him last year; I was begging for the Cavs to take him when they traded for those second round picks).
Buckeye Brad - May 1, 2009
The only reason I voted for Miami is if Lebron can take out DWade’s offense with his defense if he decides to guard him, what is Miami left with? Our bench and supporting starters can own their’s so that’s my vote. Plus Atlanta is a totally different team at home! I think we would have a better chance of beating the Heat in Miami than the Hawks in Atlanta.

I’d rather see Atlanta, because I think Miami would be too easy to beat. Neither team has a real “big man” presence like the Lakers but I think the Hawks are closer with Horford and Smith than the Heat are with JO. Atlanta forces us to defend in transition which will be very important against the Lakers.

Hey Everyone
I’m bored, it’s a quiet Saturday evening, so I think I’ll live blog game 7 of the Bulls Celtics series. Why? Because…I can.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
It’ll make this comments section nice and fat.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Here comes the opening jump ball
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Pierce hits a jumper while Salmons defends him
The Bulls really have no idea how to stop him.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Derrick Rose playing well to start
He had better if he wants his team to win.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
I hate Glen Davis
He just uses his size to unfairly dominate the paint
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
He and Perkins really are soulmates in that respect
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
9-2 start for Chicago
no timeout from Rivers
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
"No one to block off Kendrick Perkins"
“22 second chance points”… that’s because the Celtics cheat and use their behemoths to grab all the rebounds.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
There he goes again
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
WONDERFUL 3 BY GORDON
Celtics should have been called for a foul
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Ray Allen for 3
Get used to reading that
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
What foul?
That was a perfectly legitimate block.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Watch the Celtics go on an 8-0 run here
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Never mind, it’s a defensive 3 second violation
For once
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Just give up Glen, seriously
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Chants of "bull****"
stay classy, boston audience
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Geez Glen, just give it up!
You’ve collected 2 fouls now. I hope it was worth it, dopey!
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Sure, the celtics are down right now
But the bulls are experts at blowing leads
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Well now!
Ray Allen and Rondo with shots that went in and out
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Without Glen and Kendrick
The Celtics suck in the paint
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
The Bulls suck
at defending Pierce
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Amazing rejection by Rose
The bulls need to do better at getting back on defense
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
You can tell by now
I don’t think highly of either team, which is probably the only reason why I haven’t gotten sucked into this series and let it play with my heart.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
7-0 run by the Celtics
The bulls certainly suck at defending Pierce
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Pierce misses 2 wide open threes
Can I get a “Your 2009 Celtics team captain”
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Poor Rose
He draws so much contact but never gets the whistle
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
And he sucks at holding onto the ball
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Why is Scalabrine playing anyway?
He’s endangering his life, not just his career.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
That's why...a wide open 3
The Bulls are just leaving the 3 point line wide open
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Here comes MARBURY
The celtics savior
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
That last sequence was amusing
shot blocked, then a bulls turnover, then a celtics turnover, and a missed last second 3. What a matchup of superb teams. NOT.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
The Bulls don't know how to move the ball
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
They just rely on big shots from big shooters
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Again Scalabrine hits a wide open 3
Again the Bulls leave the 3 point line completely free.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Marbury misses a wide open jump shot
He’s the best
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
The Bulls REALLY don't know how to move the ball
and get it in the paint
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Rose loses the ball
That’s his 26th turnover in this series
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
13-4 run by Boston
turnover by Boston…this is going to be a long game.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
More endless mugging for the camera by Garnett
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
The refs really suck in this game
two consecutive plays that should have been fouls on Boston
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Finally a foul on Boston
Chicago needed that. Boston on a 20-4 run.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
This game is getting out of hand
But I’m not complaining. The sooner this game is decided, the less attention I have to pay to it.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
More endless mugging by Garnett
You don’t get it, do you Kevin? You’re completely irrelevant, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
3rd foul on Perkins
He deserves it
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
I was about to say "this half is ending quickly"
But it’s not. Here comes the endless fouls and timeouts.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Paul Pierce is bleeding again
He has no idea how in over his head he is. Maybe he’ll learn in the next round.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
I smell a Boston blowout
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
20-2 run for Boston
And guess what Chicago just did. I’ll give you a hint: Derrick Rose has done 27 of these all series.
I can’t wait for this series to be over and for Boston to face a REAL playoff team.
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
LOL Heinrich you suck at this game
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
more "bull****" chants
Celtic fans are such lovely people
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Finally the 1st half is over
Time for dinner. Enough of this stupid game. Neither of these teams are good, neither of these teams will make the Conference Finals, let alone the NBA Finals, so who cares who advances?
WaveOcean - May 2, 2009
Yes they both suck bilge-water
